Harbor Rescue will hold a pet portrait fundraiser at Westport Winery Garden Resort on Saturday, March 3 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. for Valé, a special dog with extra needs. Valé (pronounced "volley") is a beautiful young Lab mix. She was brought to the attention of Harbor Rescue in 2017 when she had been hit by a car and needed help.
More recently, Valé was placed in the back of a pickup tethered by a long leash. At some point she jumped or fell out of the truck and was dragged over five miles on pavement. Her injuries left her with no skin on her belly, thighs, both inside and outside, and feet. Her front toenails were ground down to the bone.
Valé has been surrendered to Harbor Rescue and has undergone four surgeries to save her legs and feet. In an effort to offset Valé's mounting veterinary bills, Harbor Rescue and Merrill Photography, in conjunction with Westport Winery, are holding this fundraiser.
You are invited to bring your (somewhat) well-behaved, leashed pets to the patio at Westport Winery for personalized portraits with your pooch by Marcy Merrill. There will also be a few choice items up for grabs via donation. A portion of the proceeds from the winery’s raspberry chocolate wine, Red Sky at Night, benefits Harbor Rescue.

The business earned Best Winery, Best Wine Shop, and Best Boutique Winery for 2016 by South Sound Magazine. They received the Grays Harbor Environmental Stewardship Award in 2015. They were named the Best Washington Family Business Silver Medal winners in 2012 by Seattle Business Magazine. And in 2011 they garnered Washington Winery to Watch by Wine Press Northwest.
Westport Winery’s new location at 810 Broadway in Seaside is open daily from 11am to 6pm and until 8pm on Friday and Saturday. Family-friendly Westport Winery Garden Resort, is located on the corner of Highway 105 and South Arbor Road halfway between Aberdeen and Westport.
