Today's nursery special is Chamaecyparis l. 'Ellwoodii', also known as the Lawson False Cypress. Its dusty blue grey sprays of foliage combine nicely when designed with purples and variegated foliage. It is perfect in containers with a mature height of about 8-feet, yet it does double duty as a nice informal hedge. It is best in well draining soil and partial sun or even shade. Plus, it's another deer resistant selection in the nursery at Westport Winery Garden Resort. Open daily 11-7.
