Sparklers Win Big

Westport Winery’s three sparkling wines each earned 90-points at the 2016 World Wine Championships giving them gold medals in the competition held in Chicago, IL.

Rapture of the Deep, a sparkling cranberry wine, has been named one of the top 100 wines in the northwest for the past three years by Great Northwest Wine. A portion of the proceeds from this wine benefits Harbors Home Health & Hospice in Aberdeen. The label for this wine is a photograph by winery co-owner Blain Roberts of an octopus. A sculpture commemorating this wine is a glass jelly fish created by Johnny and Darlene Camp of Opal Art Glass in Cosmopolis. The sculpture is located in the resort’s Something Blue Garden.

Going Coastal, a sparkling Gewurztraminer, benefits the Ocean Interpretive Center in Ocean Shores. This wine was crafted with grapes grown on 35-year-old vines at Red Willow Vineyard located in the Yakima Valley AVA. This wine’s label was painted by Krister Lile, formerly of Aberdeen. The sculpture for this wine was created by winery co-owner Kim Roberts. It is located next to the Wave of Hope Prayer Fence in the winery’s Dune Garden.

Maritime, a sparkling Riesling, also grown at Red Willow Vineyard, benefits the Northwest Carriage Museum in Raymond. This evocative label was painted by Blain Roberts’ surf partner Darryl Easter of Camarillo, California. The Maritime sculpture by Gary Douglas is located in the Beauty From Ashes Garden.
