Westport Winery Garden Resort was named one of the top twenty most admired wineries in North America in the November/December issue of Winery and Vineyard Management magazine. Winery co-founder Blain Roberts said, “This is simply the biggest honor we have achieved and beyond our wildest dreams.”
Westport Winery was one of two wineries from Washington State included in the list along with twelve California wineries, two from New York, and one each from Missouri, Virginia, Michigan and North Carolina.
Kim Roberts said, “Blain and I try to visit the most inspiring wineries and learn from them. One of our favorites in California is Jordan Vineyard and Winery which is also on the list. And of course, we love the leadership that Chateau St. Michelle has played in our state’s wine industry. I was fortunate to serve with their vice president of marketing as a member of the Washington Wine Commission. To be on the same list with this iconic winery is an incredible honor.”
Blain and Kim, partnered with their children, Carrie (their general manager) and Dana (the director of winemaking) expressed their appreciation to the local community and their loyal wine club members. “We love our jobs and the people who work on our team. We love the opportunity to make a difference in our community. And we love the people we serve and the products we create. This is a humbling moment for our family and our business.”
The magazine asked industry professionals to nominate their most inspiring wineries. Family-friendly Westport Winery Garden Resort, is located on the corner of Highway 105 and South Arbor Road halfway between Aberdeen and Westport. The resort (including the restaurant, bakery, nursery and gardens) is open daily from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Westport Winery TASTING @ Cannon Beach, is located at 255 N. Hemlock. The Oregon tasting room is open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Westport Winery was named 2011 Washington Winery to Watch by Wine Press Northwest. They have been voted Best Winery by King 5 Evening Magazine six times. They were named the Best Washington Family Business Silver Medal winners in 2012, received the Grays Harbor Environmental Stewardship Award in 2015, and were name Best Winery, Best Wine Shop, and Best Boutique Winery for 2016 by South Sound Magazine.
