Two New VIntages Released This Week

For their ten-year anniversary celebration Westport Winery released a new vintage of Smoky Nor’wester in a commemorative etched wine bottle. Smoky is a classic Bordeaus blend of 60% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Franc, and 16% Cabernet Sauvignon. In the tasting notes they suggest this wine is “Like fireworks in the sky or a good spanking.” In the winery’s Sea Glass Grill they suggest you enjoy this with Prime Rib. And anywhere it’s a good musical pairing with Happy Anniversary by the Little River Band.

A portion of the proceeds from this wine benefits the Westport Maritime Museum. The sculpture commemorating this wine in the winery’s display garden was created by Ocosta artist Nikki Demmert. Her Haida cedar carving is located near the pond in the winery’s 9-hole executive golf course.

Guests are encouraged to reuse this beautiful bottle for the incredible olive oils and balsamic vinegars available in either the garden resort tasting room between Aberdeen and Westport, Washington, or their Seaside, Oregon tasting room.

Additionally, the winery released its latest vintage of Fleur de Lis Pinot Gris this week. Crafted with grapes from Sugarloaf Vineyard in the Rattlesnake Hills AVA, this wine is described to be like “a stroll through a French orchard.” The winery recommends this wine be paired with their homemade clam chowder while listening to It’s A Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong. A portion of the proceeds from this wine benefits the historic 7th Street Theater in Hoquiam. The sculpture commemorating this wine was crafted by Lora Malakoff of Clallam Bay. And the label was painted by watercolorist Darrel Easter.
