Westport Winery: A Coast Traveler's Dream

Westport Winery: A Coast Traveler's Dream

The Roberts family, founders of Westport Winery, is honored to release the book Westport Winery: A Coast Traveler's Dream this week. The concept had been planned for about five years. It was this March at their tenth anniversary celebration that it came to fruition when decade wine club members and friends the Vasereno's and Camp's gifted the family with a certificate to create a book to document their story.

This generous gift led them to redesign the resort’s garden signs. It was their goal to provide visitors both better graphics and a more complete detailing of each of their thirty-five wine labels, forty gardens, fifty charities, and sixty outdoor sculptures (created by a talented cadre of local artists). All these projects led them to the lofty desire of becoming the Butchart Gardens of Washington State. These signs, each a collage of its own, then became the content of this beautiful full-color 112-page book filled with photos of the winery--and a few from their past--as it tells their personal stories as well.

Along the way the family realized the project offered them the privilege and honor to include their vineyard partners which allows readers a glimpse of the basis of their wine’s success. Westport could not be the winery it is without the growers’ diligence in growing the best grapes in the region and the world.

Andy Perdue from the Seattle Times, Wine Press Northwest, and Great Northwest Wine suggested they add favorite recipes from the Sea Glass Grill, their award-winning restaurant. The winery team hopes readers enjoy these pages, as they try the recipes in their own kitchens to share with family and friends.

Kim Roberts said, “We want to thank the many photographers that contributed to this project. We owe special mention to the editors of Washington Tasting Room Magazine for their quote that became the title of the book. And speaking of quotes, we hope readers appreciate the inclusion of many of our favorite quotes on these pages. There is simply so much wisdom to be garnered from those who came before us. Our goal for this book is to entertain and inspire.”

Westport Winery: A Coast Traveler’s Dream is available in the tasting rooms in Seaside, Oregon, and the garden resort between Aberdeen and Westport, Washington, as well as on their website at www.westportwinery.com. It can be shipped to all states even though they can only ship wine to twenty-four states listed on the website.
