Westport Winery Opens Seaside Retreat

Westport Winery and the Roberts’ family have added a luxury lodging component to their already diversified winery offerings. Westport Winery Seaside Retreat is the family’s vacation home on the golf course in Seaside, Oregon, just south of their Seaside tasting room. The residence features the winery’s classic District 13 Coast Guard exterior paint scheme as they do on all their properties.

This new home constructed over the past twelve months was designed for the family’s primary use as they commute between their Aberdeen and Seaside locations. Winery co-founder, Kim Roberts said, “We all live on property at our Washington location and we don’t have much time away from the business. At the same time, we work when other people play, so our Seaside home is empty all summer and most weekends making it a perfect vacation rental.”

The home’s interior reflects the family’s love of wine and the beach, beginning with their own wine labels on the walls to each room having a unique ocean theme. Many of the tables display a private shell collection on loan from a long-time family friend from their days owning Lahaina Divers on Maui. For this reason alone, the property is not suitable for children, nor is it pet-friendly.

The layout features an open-concept living area perfect for vacationers with a large living room, dining room and gourmet kitchen. The living area has sliding doors on each side of the gas fireplace with panoramic views of the fairway and mountains beyond. There is a big screen television above the fireplace. The dining table is perfect for groups of six for everything from holidays meals to games to crafts. It is beautifully lit by a custom chandelier designed by winemaker Dana Roberts.

The kitchen is fully equipped including all major appliances, dinnerware, cooking and baking pans, small appliances (rice cooker to waffle iron), and the basics in spices. Plus, there is a propane barbecue grill on the patio complete with six Adirondack chairs and a table for cocktails as guests watch the golfers and wildlife in fenced comfort. In addition to all the features in the kitchen, including a four-seater bar with quartz counters, the home has a large laundry room and pantry.

For relaxing slumber, there are three king bedrooms each with its own attached bathroom. All of the bathrooms have step-in showers with an additional tub in the master suite. From pretty linens to luxurious mattresses the bedrooms are built for relaxation. Two bedrooms have regular sized televisions and the master suite features a big screen. With the three bedrooms the absolute top limit is six guests which is also mandated by the special permit issued by the city.

On the street side there is a shortcut through the lovely landscaped garden toward The Cove, the prominent surfing and walking beach just a half a block south. In the opposite direction, it’s an easy walk to the golf course club house, restaurant and bar. And heading northwest the property is just a block from a neighborhood grocery, pub and the popular Osprey Café. All guests receive complimentary wine tasting in their tasting room at 810 Broadway.

With so many great destinations in easy walking distance it’s especially nice that there is paved on-site parking for three cars, plus a two-car garage. The City of Seaside does not allow on-street parking, so guests need to plan accordingly. There are also “good neighbor” rules, a tsunami evacuation route and an emergency alert radio in the cottage. This is a non-smoking and non-vaping property both inside and out. There are keyless entries for visitors which also have security cameras.

Bookings and inquiries are available exclusively on Airbnb. The link to the property is on the winery website at www.westportwinery.com or directly at https://abnb.me/wm8iVGkHCT. The winery staff is not trained on answering questions or taking bookings, so all inquiries need to work through the online reservations. Family friend Kegan French is the onsite property manager in Seaside. He communicates with all those interested in renting the property. The base rate is $275 per night with a three-night minimum plus a $95 cleaning fee and a refundable deposit. Prices go up in the busy summer season.
