Westport Winery Selects Oregon Charities

From their humble beginnings in 2008 the Roberts family, founders of Westport Winery located on the Washington coast, have designated local charitable organizations to benefit from the sale of their wines. As their wine list grew from a dozen labels to three times that many so has their giving program. Now with Westport Winery Seaside, they have selected two Oregon coast organizations to add to their list of almost forty groups.

Realtor Karen Radditz is the person who helped them purchase their building at 810 Broadway in Seaside, Oregon, where their second tasting room is located. Radditz is the president of Clatsop Assistance League, an organization with over 120 members who work together to provide new clothing to over 700 school children every spring and fall. Winery co-founder, Kim Roberts said, “We are so excited to have the opportunity to collaborate with Karen to help with the important work this dedicated group provides.”

The Roberts selected Clatsop Animal Assistance as the second organization with which to partner. Roberts said, “This group spends close to 100% of their donations on animal adoption and welfare. Here in Washington we support five groups with similar missions. It’s an honor for us to begin this level of commitment to this community.”

The family has donated over $500,000 to local charities in their eleven-year history. They have had a tasting room in Oregon for two years. “Our team members in Oregon really lead the way in helping us make this decision. We are fortunate to have Fran Janovesic, Bennett Hunter, Kegan French, and Will Witt either staffing our tasting room or providing community outreach for our business,” Roberts said. “The north Oregon and southwest Washington coastal communities have great need and even greater opportunity. It’s our privilege to contribute to those who provide the leadership and heavy lifting to make our community better places for people and animals.”

Westport Winery Seaside received the 2019 Rising Star Award from the Seaside Chamber of Commerce. Westport Winery and the Roberts family were honored with Seattle Business Magazine’s Community Involvement Business of the Year for 2018. In 2017 the Westport Winery Garden Resort was named Greater Grays Harbor Business of the Year. USA Today named the Sea Glass Grill at Westport Winery Garden Resort one of the top five winery restaurants in the nation. The business has been voted Best Winery by King 5 Evening Magazine.

In 2016 Westport Winery was honored as one of the top twenty most-admired wineries in North America by Winery & Vineyard Management Magazine. The business earned Best Winery, Best Wine Shop, and Best Boutique Winery for 2016 by South Sound Magazine. They received the Grays Harbor Environmental Stewardship Award in 2015.
