Westport Winery earned two gold medals at the Cascadia International Wine Competition held April 10-12, 2018, in Richland, Washington.
Bordello Blonde, an off-dry blend of 80% Gewurztraminer and 20% Riesling, crafted of grapes exclusively grown at Red Willow Vineyard in the Yakima Valley AVA brought home the first gold medal. The winery’s tasting notes suggest this wine is “Sexy and soft, she goes with anyone and anything.” Given this they additionally note that the wine pairs well with Corks, Crab and Cheese featuring Cougar Gold cheese sauce in their Sea Glass Grill. A portion of the proceeds from this wine benefits the Aberdeen Museum of History. A sculpture commemorating this wine created by Sherryl Jackson of North River is located in the fourth tier of the winery’s Meditation Garden. The Bordello Blonde label is a charcoal drawing by winery co-owner Kim Roberts. Fittingly, they recommend this wine be enjoyed while listening to Edge of Glory by Lady Gaga.
Dawn Patrol, a blend of Red Willow Riesling and raspberries, earned the coastal winery a second gold medal at this competition. The wine is described as “Platinum and voluptuous with swoons of red passion.” The Sea Glass Grill’s Dungeness Crab Cakes are offered as the perfect pairing while enjoying Like A Prayer by Madonna. A portion of the proceeds from this wine is donated to the Twin Harbors Chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. The sculpture commemorating this wine crafted by Tokeland artist Jeffro Uitto is located in the winery’s 9-hole executive golf course.
As a result of these medals both wines will be in consideration for the Great Northwest Wine top 100 at year's end.
In 2017 the Westport Winery was named Greater Grays Harbor Business of the Year. The Sea Glass Grill at Westport Winery Garden Resort was voted #2 winery restaurant in the nation by USA Today. The business has been voted Best Winery by King 5 Evening Magazine.
In 2016 Westport Winery was honored as one of the top twenty most-admired wineries in North America by Winery & Vineyard Management Magazine. The business earned Best Winery, Best Wine Shop, and Best Boutique Winery for 2016 by South Sound Magazine. They received the Grays Harbor Environmental Stewardship Award in 2015. They were named the Best Washington Family Business Silver Medal winners in 2012 by Seattle Business Magazine. And in 2011 they garnered Washington Winery to Watch by Wine Press Northwest.
Family-friendly Westport Winery Garden Resort, is located on the corner of Highway 105 and South Arbor Road halfway between Aberdeen and Westport.
